Pine and spruce: well-treated classics
Cerland has selected traditional pine (usually Scots pine) for its mechanical characteristics which are amongst the best of the resinous trees and for the homogeneity and fine appearance of its wood.
Western forests also provide us with the spruce, another quality resinous tree, traditionally used in wood construction.
Pine and spruce are suitable for autoclave preservation treatments. Alternating vacuum and pressure, this system impregnates the wood in-depth. With a concern for the environment, Cerland uses a fungicide and insecticide wood preservative which is safe for the environment. Chrome and arsenic free, this fungicide treatment product is based on cooper, which gives the treated pine a slight hint of green.
Northern wood: outstanding mechanical and aesthetic qualities
For some of its ranges, particularly for the structure of Odyssea swimming pools, Cerland uses Northern wood: Northern pine (also known as Scandinavian Scots pine or Northern Redwood) and spruce (also known as Northern White Wood).
Why do we have such strict requirements? The slow growth of the trees, favoured by the rigorous climate at the 57th parallel north, guarantees wood with outstanding aesthetic and mechanical qualities.
To gain the category of use IV, the Northern pine is given an appropriate treatment. The treatment used by Cerland is the “autoclave”. Alternating vacuum and pressure, under specific conditions to obtain category IV, it impregnates the wood in-depth. The wood is dried before the treatment is applied to obtain optimum impregnation.
With a concern for the environment, Cerland uses a fungicide and insecticide wood preservative which is safe for the environment. Chrome and arsenic free, this fungicide treatment product is based on cooper, which gives the treated pine a slight hint of green.
A new product has recently been developed to give the wood a brown tint during the autoclave preservation treatment.
Exotic woods: naturally exceptional species
Exotic woods provide us with intense colours, natural durability, and a strong resistance to impact and abrasion due to their density.
Cerland brings together all its exotic wood products under the brand Excelia®.
For its Excelia® swimming pool coping, Cerland has selected the famous Ipe: a very hard and dense wood which is stable in both use and time, with durability comparable to that of teak.
For its Excelia® decking, Cerland has selected four high-quality exotic species from South America:
Ipe of course, Massaranduba, Cumaru and Garapa, which are also dense, stable in use, durable to very durable, and with excellent mechanical characteristics.
Excelia® Fenceasy fences are made out of Itauba, a dense and durable wood, completely suitable for this type of use.
These woods require pre-drilled holes before screwing or nailing.

The composite wood Newwood: giving nature a helping hand
Cerland has developed a new generation of decking in composite wood.
This innovative material is made up half of wood particles (sawmill waste), and half of high-density polyethylene, which gives it a good durability whilst remaining entirely recyclable.
