Let's start by choosing the colours.
Choose an atmosphere, decide on the colour scheme. To test the result, you can download the assembly instructions. There is a Wendy house which you can colour in on the cover.
The material
It is easier to paint the Wendy house once it has been assembled. You can use masking tape to protect the parts that you don't want to paint and the borders between two colours.
To paint large surfaces, a paint roller is very practical. If you prefer to use a brush, choose a wide one. Alongside your roller or wide brush, use a small paint brush for the angles and finishes.
Buying paint
You can opt for outdoor wood paint, which is more weather-resistant, but you will have less choice in yellow colours and other bright yellow-based colours (bright orange, lime green etc.). You will also have less choice in subtle colours such as taupe and plum.
Use a light base coat, then one coat for dark colours and one or two coats for light colours.
How much paint do you need?
The surface of a door (one side) is around 0.5m2, a back panel (including the gable) 1.8m2, a side panel between 1 to 1.25m2.
The hacienda is slightly different: the door is 0.5 m², the back panel 2.5 m², the front side (the side with the door) 1.7 m², and a side panel 1.5 m².
If you paint the rail, think big.
